IELTS Sample Speaking Test x2

Here is another complete IELTS Speaking Test with different topics and a script for the examiner:


Part 1: Introduction and Interview

Topic: Daily Routine

  1. Examiner: "Let's talk about your daily routine. What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?"

  2. Examiner: "Do you usually have the same routine every day?"

  3. Examiner: "Is there any part of your daily routine that you would like to change? Why?"

  4. Examiner: "How do you manage your time to include all the things you need to do each day?"


Part 2: Long Turn

Prompt: Examiner: "Now, I'm going to give you a topic and I'd like you to talk about it for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you're going to say. You can make some notes if you wish. Here is your topic."

Prompt: Describe a memorable meal you had. You should say:

  • Where you had it

  • Who you were with

  • What you ate And explain why it was memorable.

After one minute: Examiner: "Please start speaking now."


Part 3: Discussion

Topic: Food and Eating Habits

  1. Examiner: "We've been talking about a memorable meal you had, and I'd like to discuss this topic a bit more with you. How have eating habits changed in your country over the past few decades?"

  2. Examiner: "What are some of the main reasons people choose to eat fast food?"

  3. Examiner: "How can people be encouraged to eat healthier food?"

  4. Examiner: "Do you think traditional meals will still be popular in the future? Why or why not?"

Topic: Special Occasions 5. Examiner: "Let's move on to talking about special occasions. What are some important festivals or celebrations in your country?" 6. Examiner: "How do people usually celebrate these occasions?" 7. Examiner: "Do you think the way people celebrate special occasions has changed over time? How?" 8. Examiner: "Why is it important for people to celebrate special occasions?"

Part 1: Introduction and Interview

Topic: Hobbies

  1. What hobbies do you enjoy doing in your free time?

  2. How long have you been interested in these hobbies?

  3. Do you prefer to do these hobbies alone or with other people? Why?

  4. Are there any hobbies you would like to try in the future?


Part 2: Long Turn

Prompt: Describe a place you have visited that you particularly liked. You should say:

  • Where it is

  • When you went there

  • What you did there And explain why you liked it so much.

You have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.


Part 3: Discussion

Topic: Travel and Tourism

  1. How do you think tourism has changed in your country over the past few years?

  2. What are the positive and negative impacts of tourism on local communities?

  3. How can tourism be made more sustainable?

  4. Do you think international travel will become more or less popular in the future? Why?

Topic: Leisure Activities 5. How have people's leisure activities changed over the past few decades? 6. Do you think people have enough free time these days? Why or why not? 7. What are the benefits of having a hobby? 8. How can governments encourage people to take up more leisure activities?
